AL ADVENTURES Series 2: Battles at the Bamboo Beach
Chapter One: A Seemingly Perfect Vacation (Amber's Point of View) It was a bright and early morning on Bamboo Island. Lilie was setting up a cabin, and I was poking at the fire, very bored. "How's it going over there, Lilie?" I shouted over the roar of the ocean. She was putting giant sized banana leaves over a bamboo hut. There were two huts across from each other with the bonfire in the middle. "Great! I just set up my hut, now will you please come help me with yours?" "Fine..." I sighed, "But you string together the hammock, I'm awful at tying knots." "Amber, you're awful at all kinds of knots. You can't make them, you can't undo them. I don't even know if you can spell knot." Chapter Two: Amber Can't Tie Knots (Amber's Point of View) I walked into the darkness.the bamboo was really tall and really tangled. Luckily, I had my handy-dandy safety knife with me. But, sadly, when I tried to cut through a piece of bamboo, I got so scared of the knife that I flung in to another tree and ran the other direction. Then I realized that I was lost. "Where am I?" I shouted. "You are in my forest, little one," a deep, evil voice laughed evilly. "Who is that?" I asked. "Why, who else but your old friend, the Black Cat!" I saw his yellow eyes and I knew he was telling the truth! The black cat was my friend who taught me how to be evil. He was the reason black cats were bad luck on Friday the 13th. "Black Cat? Why are you here?" I challenged. "I've lived in the volcano on Bamboo Island for a long, long time. When I heard some people were chopping down my bamboo, I wanted to punish them!" he snickered. "Punish us? But we had a deal, Black Cat! You said you would leave Lilie and I alone!" I shouted. "Mwahaha. I guess I'm breaking my promise, then!" he shouted. Quicker than lighting he shot beams out of his bright yellow eyes. The beams wrapped around my feet and threw me around a bamboo tree. Then he left me hanging! Worst of all, I couldn't break free, because I couldn't untie the knot that kept me there! Chapter Three: Lilie Meets Black Cat (Lilie's Point of View) Three days passed but Amber didn't come back. I was beginning to get worried. I looked at the stick I was holding and realized that I burned my marshmallow. Amber loved marshmallows! It was then I decided to take action. I took a bag of marshmallows and a BIG stick and marched into the forest. It was lighter because it was daytime. Then, I saw a knife stuck in a bamboo tree. "It's a safety knife!" I yelled, "this has 'Amber' written all over!" So I marched off to find her. Then suddenly I heard and evil laugh. "Who's there? Show yourself!" I declared. A BIG, BLACK cat with EVIL yellow eyes came up to me. "Hey, fatty, go away!" I shouted at it, tossing a marshmallow the opposite direction. It ran for the marshmallow, because everyone loves marshmallows! "Lilie! Up here!" I heard Amber. I looked up, and there she was, tied to a bamboo tree. I studied the trap. "Silly Amber. Just untie that know and you're free!" I laughed. Amber looked very unhappy. "Help me," she begged. Instead of answering, I waved a bag of fresh, plump marshmallows across her face. She began to drool. "Please, Lilie, I want one!" she begged more. "Nope! No marshmallows for you until you untie the knot!" I told her. "But, Lilie-" "No buts! Untie the knot!" I yelled as I popped a marshmallow in my mouth. This was too much for Amber to bear. She struggled, but the knot didn't come undone. "I want one so bad!" she yelled. Finally, she got so angry that she took a big bite out of the knot. SLAM! Onto the ground she went. "I'm okay... sort of," Amber half-whispered, holding her hand out for a marshmallow. Lilie smiled. "You deserve it," she handed Amber the marshmallow, "Now let's go back to our huts." Amber was too busy pigging out on marshmallows to answer. THE END.
Lilie laughed, flinging a leaf on the roof. "K-N-O-T. Knot. I'm the brainy one, remember?" I joked. "Spell hammock," Lilie challenged. "H-A-M-M-O-K. Wait... dang it," I dropped my head in shame. "Okay, loser. Go get some firewood while I finish the hut that you were too weak and lazy to build," Lilie ordered. So off into the the Bamboo Forest I went.
